This kit allows the OEM engineer to demonstrate and evaluate the Airborne™ 802.11b performance and capabilities, and provides a versatile development platform for quickly integrating the Airborne Module into a new design. The kit features a development board, populated with an Airborne™ Wireless module, that includes easily accessed connections to the module I/O pins, antenna connector and other key hardware interfaces. The kit comes with an 802.11 access point, hardware and software design guides and data books, and a full suite of development tools and utilities, including:

Airborne Evaluation Utility — A Windows™-based application that allows a developer to quickly connect any device with a standard RS-232 serial port to the Airborne™ module, and establish an 802.11 wireless connection. The evaluation utility allows the OEM to demonstrate and evaluate 802.11 wireless performance in real world or laboratory environments, to quickly characterize system performance parameters such as throughput, range, compatibility and much more.

OEM Configuration Tool — A Windows™-based utility that lets the OEM quickly configure the Airborne module to tailor it to a specific design and application. With the OEM Configuration tool the designer can set 802.11 radio parameters, define general purpose I/O configurations, establish baud rates and other host interface parameters and configure and load custom web pages into the Wireless Module web server. The OEM Configuration Tool eliminates the need for complex embedded software development or development systems that are associated with the typical 802.11 wireless chipset design.

Dynamic Link Library — For OEMs who want to develop their own Windows-based application to monitor and control their Airborne-enabled product, the Airborne Dynamic Link Library (DLL) provides a Windows™-based, unified and tested application programming interface callable from any C, C++ or Visual Basic application. The library simplifies the effort and reduces the development time required to create new application programs or to upgrade existing applications to incorporate wireless connectivity.

Virtual Serial Port Driver — For OEMs with applications already written to support devices connected to a standard serial port, the Airborne Virtual Serial Port Driver (VCOMM) provides a quick way to convert from wired to wireless connectivity. Just load the VCOMM driver and associate the wireless device with a serial port, and the application is up and running.
